Students had a blast at the Mars Rover Challenge competition at the University of Kentucky on Saturday March 10, 2012.

Reidland Elementary1st place: iPods for each student in the team

2nd place: $100 Amazon gift cards for each student in the team

PLTW students at Heath Middle in a dragster race

PLTW students in Heath Middle at McCracken County participated in a dragster race in December using dragsters they designed and built. Marion County CTC and Mr. Conley

The PLTW pipeline in Marion County is thriving and growing. Mr. Conley, the Marion County PLTW teacher housed in the ATC facility next to the high school, had 100% of his senior Engineering Design & Development students choose engineering. Their designs were impressive and now all seven of the EDD students are starting their freshman year in engineering. Additionally, Olivia Jones and Evan Thompson’s library designs were selected by the Marion County Library Board of Trustees as the top designs for the redesign of the library facility from the entire PLTW CEA class of 20 students. Franklin Co. Tech students place 4th at national competition

Local engineering and carpentry students placed fourth nationally at the Association of Equipment Manufacturers Construction Challenge in Las Vegas. Students from the Franklin County Career and Technical Center competed against 24 teams from the U.S. and Canada. Franklin Co. CTC students won Construction Challenge competition

Last weekend, 6 PLTW students from Franklin County Career & Technical Center (FCCTC) from Carpentry and Pre-Engineering areas competed in a Construction Challenge competition in Cincinnati, OH. Students competed in 3 challenges against 24 other teams in the region which included teams from Pennsylvania to Missouri. The prize for winning is a most expenses paid trip to Las Vegas to compete in the Finals this March! Here students will compete against 23 other teams from across the nation to win Ipads, gift cards, and scholarships! Mr. JW Blackburn (Carpentry Instructor) and Mark Harrell (PLTW Instructor) will accompany these students and they hope to bring home a national championship!

Scott County HS won VEX Robotics Competition

Scott County High School won VEX Robotics competition against the other model schools in Washington, DC PLTW Innovation Summit., Oct 20-22, 2010. Jean Porter, PLTW Scott County High School (SCHS) teacher, Patricia Putty, SCHS Superintendent, and four SCHS PLTW Students attended the meeting as a PLTW National Model School. SCHS was one of 10 high schools from across the 4000 PLTW US high school who met the quality standards of a PLTW Model School!!
