University of Kentucky Project Lead The Way Kentucky (PLTW) is hosting a Kentucky TEAMS Competition for High School students on Saturday March 18, 2017 at the College of Engineering at the University of Kentucky campus.
Scholarship Awards Information: Each student in the first place winning team (4 – 8 students) will receive a $1000 college scholarship to attend UK College of Engineering.
The TSA TEAMS program is an annual high school competition helping students discover their potential for engineering. Using math, science and 21st century learning skills, students work together to problem-solve real, everyday world challenges. Throughout the competition, students work collaboratively to solve original and innovative engineering scenarios focused on an annual theme. In 2017, students will address issues focusing on “Engineering the Environment”.
High School Competition Information:
- High school level consists of two 90-minute sections.
- Part 1: 80 multiple-choice questions. Example – Part A1
- Part 2: short-answer essay questions and design challenge Example – Part A2+B

- Competition is open to all high schools. Do not need to be a member of TSA to compete.
9:30: Check-in and introductions
10:00-11:30: Part 1: 80 multiple-choice questions
11:30-12:30: Lunch (will be provided)
12:30-2:00: Part 2: short-answer essay questions and design challenge
*Awards (scholarship winners) will be announced after grading is completed by TSA
