Save the date Oct 29, 2013 – PLTWKY Conference

Tagged in: Blog, Events, News

SAVE THE DATE:  October 29, 2013

WHAT:  STEM INNOVATE TO LEARN INSTITUTE (FKA PLTWKY STEM SYMPOSIUM)

LOCATION:  Lexington Convention Center, downtown Lexington

Description:  2013 marks the beginning of a new era within PLTW here in our Commonwealth.  As we have travelled the state over the past 5 years, one consistent message we hear is the plea from employers to deliver a concise, consistent “STEM Message” and collaborative K12 opportunities for employer involvement.  Employers want ONE unified request for assistance, whether the request is for time, money, materials, or brainpower.  Toward that end, then, in October 2013 we begin to navigate toward that goal.  We are merging the PLTWKY STEM  Symposium, traditionally held in the fall, with the University of Kentucky College of Education STEM Innovation Summit (which is also merging with us!), in collaboration with the UK College of Education, KDE, state government and other interested STEM participants from around our Commonwealth.

The program will be richer, longer, and offer better value for your conference dollar.

This conference replaces the individual PLTW KY conference.  We will have a series of informational sessions regarding PLTW, including the required session for Counselors and Administrators.  We are applying for EILA credit for the PLTW portion of the day.   The day also contains additional options from recognized experts on topics including the Maker Faire Movement, Entrepreneurship, STEMx, Assessment, Google, Henry Ford Learning Institute, and many others.
